The End of Round 1

With the conclusion of the first round taking place in amongst controversy on Sunday night, with the captain of Blazers F.C. (Eclipse) taking a mercy option given to him by the Referees and leaving the server unannounced. Though for most, the first round was a step in the right direction. Problems were found, and solved, and arguarably the first upset took place. But with these events past us. I thought I'd update you guys on what I'm adding to the site and the new fixture arrangements.

Firstly, a revision to the 2nd Round fixtures is currently under way, and as the vote stands, all matches from Round 2 will be pushed back by a week. So instead of Round 2 starting on the 5th of April, it will start on the 12th of April. (I will confirm this as of later tonight). By giving you guys the option to decide if we take the week off for Easter, I'm glad that sensibility shone through. But for any athiests or people of other religions, a couple of scrim matches may take place over the Easter Weekend for you (Ask Sharwing about that one).

Also, a couple of changes have been made to the site, that you may have noticed. This includes the new match reports, which you can go to by clicking a completed match's scoreline. Thus far I've only put one up, (TDT v TS), but the rest of Round 1's matches will be summarised on the site over the coming week. In this match report you can also download the Source TV demo file, to watch in Counter-Strike.

Finally, if you are still looking for a team to join up to for the coming season, speak to Wizard Hat about joining his team.

A Few Changes Already

I must announce a few minor changes to the season, that have cropped up already. The foremost of which is that we now have a new team, Blazers F.C., they have now been added to the fixture list. Which means there's been a few time changes. I've also pulled forward Round 3's matches by one day each, to co-incide with almost every state's Government School holidays. So matches for Round 3 are from Wednesday night to Saturday night.

I'm sure everyone will be pleased that the league is finally up and running, with only the barest of teething problems so far. We've already had some great matches, and the fierce contest I'm sure will ensue on for a while to come. One thing you would have noticed, if you have been watching the matches through Source TV, is that the camera restricts you from having a decent free view. We do apologise for this, and that we are doing our best at the moment to try and fix that.

There have been a few other minor changes around the site, like the addition of a few little extras to the Rules page, and a bit of revision of it. Please note that the Excessive Knifing rules is now defined as 3 knives per minute. I am also planning to release a newer section to the site, which will be the addition of brief Match Reports for each game. This will include little tid-bits of information like the goal scorers, assists, score at each interval, who played a part in the match and how much. As well in this Match Report section I will start hosting the League Match demos on the web site, free for anyone to download. These demos can provide a great tactical boost for your team for your next match.

Finally I'd like to say good luck to everyone involved in matches for the remainder of this weekend.

Season Opener

We begin the new season tomorrow, with the season opener of The Dream Team against Team Socceroos. This means I'll need to round up any loose ends I can think of right now, by repeating some of the rules, and mentioning some new things for the teams playing, and the rest of the league.

Firstly, for the players of the League teams, there are a few things. Most importantly being, CHECK YOUR TEAM PAGE NOW! That being your ACSSL team page. If a player is not listed there, but is on your team, he or she will NOT be playing until their name appears there. Email me if they don't appear there yet, and I'll fix it up. There will be no excuses when your unlisted player turns up to a game.

As for your team's matches, you must have 4 listed players from your team, in the Match Server. If you turn up to a match with less than 4 players, you will be forced to forfeit 20-0. If you anticipate that you will not have 4 or more players for one of your matches, you must organise a shift in dates with the other team's captain 48 hours prior to your scheduled kickoff.
You may have all 8 of your players in the Match Server during the game, and substitutions will be allowed in the 3 Break Periods, as mentioned on the Rules Page. Please read the rules now, in depth.
Both teams may also turn up to the Match Server 30 minutes before kickoff (all times on this site are listed by kickoff). These 30 minutes are allowed for a little bit of practice, and to co-ordinate your team.

A new feature of the Australian Counter-Strike Soccer League, we are allowing anybody from the public to view our matches using Source TV. If you're unfamiliar with Source TV, it's part of Counter-Strike: Source, that allows you to view a match of CS:S, without actually being in the server. You view the match through the eyes of a Spectator, or in our case, one of the Referees.
To view our Source TV channel, all you have to do is copy and paste the "ACSSL Match Server TV" IP address below, and add it into your Steam Server Favourites like you would with any other server. Then when match time comes around, you just connect to the server, and you will be able to watch a perfect broadcast of a League Match.
I'd also like to mention that the League match Source TV demos are available for request if you want to download it.

The League Begins

Well God knows how long we been waiting, but the season will be under way as of next week. Yes. Next week we'll be playing league matches for the first team this year. ^^

We've finished our work on the servers, Jayso from Reality Gaming put a lot of effort into optimising the server today, as they were offline this morning.

To introduce the two new teams, The Reapers and Team Glory, the fixture list will be modified over the coming hours. We've tried to keep the changes low, and the first round of the season is has not been changed. But I sure nobody should have a problem with it.

You must keep checking this web site for the times of your matches and any changes to them. The web site, not the forums, but this web site. Nobody but yourself will be held responsible if you have not checked it in sufficient time. You must also check your team page now. If your team information is not correct, and a player is unlisted, he or she will not be able to play in their fixture whilst the information on your team page is missing. If something is missing, please PM w33nie on the forums, NOW.

Server Maintenance

The Public Server is now back up, after we had to install the new Steam Update that Valve has just put out. It took a little while, but you've got your sexy server back now.

As for smaller things like the skins in the public server, dont worry, we are working on them, even though little progress seems to have been made, I'm sure we'll end up there eventually. And no, we won't start the league with the current skins in place. I'm trying to get them working on the league match server, but really, nothing I seem to try is working.

On a more positive note, we do expect the league to be starting up in about 2 weeks. We mainly just need to get these skins problems out of the way. So if you don't have a team, find one, quickly. Talk to Alpha Sucks, of Team Glory, or Hectik of The Reapers FC, about trialing for his almost filled team.
