Server Troubles |
As you will have noticed, we've been having some server troubles over the past week, starting when both servers crashed on Friday night. It seems further troubles and changes will be taking place over the rest of this week, but we will be doing our best to get both servers back and running before the opening Season Two match on Friday night.
At the moment we are waiting for Reality Gaming's host to stop dicking around and pull our servers up, once that's done customising the server back to what it was originally will be no problem. On a positive note, these are the first real troubles we have had since the ACSSL servers were erected in late March.
So stick with us, and keep checking the front page for further updates about the servers. I'll post them as they come through.

Season Two Fixtures Released |
The fixture list has finally been released for the start of the ACSSL Season Two, you can check all of your teams fixtures for Season Two on the fixtures page. Season Two has also been shortened to playing each team once, this decision has been made in what I feel is the benefit of the league. Not only did Season One start in March, ending in July, but the turnover of players, captains and full teams was incredible. This shortened system would also mean all matches would finish just before Year 12 final exams, something I consider very important, and if the league was to be the same length there would be more than enough reason to take at least 4 weeks off for the ACSSL, meaning the league wouldn't finish until January next year. Yet, if there is strong enough resistance to the league being shortened, it can easily be reformed again to the normal season length, in barely any time, and at any stage throughout the season.
On another note, Sunday will now host two matches, one at 5pm and one at 8pm. This is due to the amount of matches that had to be rescheduled from the Thursday night slot, and the fact that a Sunday night fixture was regularly chosen as the replacement.
I would also like to congratulate Fusion Football Stars, Obsidian, Radiance and Venomous Shooters for qualifying for the ACSSL Season Two through the Relegation Playoffs, and commiserations to Blazers F.C., who only narrowly missed out on the league. Hopefully their team will be able to find places in the other league teams for Season Two.

Ka_soccer_2006_v3? |
For the next week, the ACSSL Public Server will be having the regular map, ka_soccer_2006_v2, and ka_soccer_2006_v3 on rotation with each other, to gain public first hand opinion about the maps for a possible change of map for ACSSL Season Two. The change will be made at some point later tonight. At the end of the trial period with the newer map, a discussion topic shall be opened in the forums, to discuss the possible map change for ACSSL Season Two. Then after this a poll or other form of vote-taking may be opened.

Hrvat - ACSSL Player of the Season |
The Player of the Season award recognises one player from the league, who has performed exceptionally throughout the season, as voted by the referees of each match. This award goes to Hrvat for his performances throughout ACSSL Season One. Becoming a key figure of the All Stars line up is not an easy task, and excelling to produce 91 goals, and 45 assists by one player definitely proves their value, not only to the team, but as the best player in the entire league. Hrvat was also the captain of the victorious New South Wales State of Origin team, showing his skills progressed further than his own team to this competition as a leader, and as the star marksman in the State of Origin.
All Stars captain Robbie Fowler took time out from sitting in specs to speak about his man, "Hrvat has been an inspiration for AS, leading by the front all season. He has taken on extra responsibility in the vice-captaincy, often organizing scrims and training sessions whilst I've been unable to.
"More importantly, as aforementioned he has lead from the front and often his goals have been at pivotal moments in the game, which inspires the team to go on with it and often achieve the winning result. His leadership can't be question also, as he was the captain of the winning State of Origin side, and he is always willing to help others out when in need. Hrvat is one of the cornerstones of AS, and with a bit of luck he will remain that way for a long while to come.

Congratulations to Hrvat, who pipped Roxas to the Player of the Season award by one vote.
Hrvat also picked up the Goal of the Season award, with his fantastic interplay with Srna in Round 6, see it here. The goal was selected because of the deft pass backwards, chip over the top and then perfect finish in the bottom corner, unstoppable for the keeper. It was voted on by one player from each Season One team, myself, Racoon, Speedkill, Ellinas, Mahamadou, Thugly, Khilden and Ahmet.
Congratulations to Hrvat for this marvelous finish, and commiserations to Thugly for only just missing out on the award by one vote with his 90 degree angle effort in Round 2.

On an unrelated note, two of the Relegation Playoff matches have been moved to the following weekend due to the necessity to move Venomous Shooters versus Obsidian to this Sunday night.

Hrvat - July's Player of the Month |
Playing a key role up front in the month of July for the All Stars was Hrvat, July's Player of the Month. Hrvat hammered home goals from all directions and brought his season tally to 95, averaging over 6 a match, and ranking second in overall goals this season. This can only attribute to being a major part of this season's ACSSL Runners-Up, a linchpin up front who mercilessly finished off anything in sight. No doubt next season will be more of the same.
On another note, Awesome-X was the Man of the Match in the Grand Final. Pulling off a surprising 3-1 defensive
formation worked wonders for SK in the Grand Final, and Awesome-X played a Mark Viduka role up front, which worked fantastically, he was no doubt the difference in the final.
All other end of season awards will be announced over the next few days.
